Not only is she growing up so quickly, she’s also super brave! While we were at the mall today, Andrew asked Nia if she wanted to get her ears pierced. I don’t think he ever thought she would say yes!
She asked if it would hurt like a shot and he told her yes. She didn’t care – she wanted them pierced. We walked into Claire’s and the very nice clerk asked her what earrings she would like. She knew right away. Who cares it’s the birthstone for October? It was a pretty, pink, sparkly earring and it was her choice.
She sat on Andrew’s lap and watched as the clerk cleaned the earrings and put on latex gloves. I thought that for sure would scare her. Nope. She didn’t even seem tense.
The clerk used extra care to make sure Nia didn’t see the piercing gun as she went in for the first ear. The clerk counted – one, two, three. That was it. Nia’s tiny earlobe just had an earring shoved through it and nothing. Not a deep breath, not a whimper, not a cringe, not a flinch, nothing. We asked her if she was ok and all she said while smiling was, “It just surprised me a little bit.” With that, she got her other ear pierced and then got to pick out other pretty princess earrings to wear later.
We are still in shock. What a brave little girly girl with the pink, sparkly earrings. You amaze us every day.
That's amazing!! I remember running out of the store, sitting on a bench and bursting into tears when I got my ears pierced. She's a brave big girl! I was in Claire's the other day looking for hair bows and a little girl was about to have her ears pierced. Thinking about it made me woozy and I left. Lee will definitely have to be there when/if Camille wants to get her ears pierced. I may have to have Nia there too.
HAHA! The first time I went to get mine pierced I totally chickened out and we had to get a receipt that allowed us to return any time I felt ready for it! I think the key is not letting the piercee see that gun thingee. I'm sure it was super tough for you because of how you feel about shots. It was very brave of you to do!
Wow! Nia is amazing! I had mine done as an infant…Italian girl with little curls had to have tiny gold hoops…y'know? I'm glad you waited until Nia made up her own mind and now she is old enough to care for them too! Good job Nia!
Aw!! What a brave girl!!! And they look so pretty! Congratulations, Nia!!!!
I was much older when I got my ears pierced. Aunt Ree was about 6 or 7 and she screamed and cried after the first ear and had to be talked into getting the second ear done. She actually got them done for Mitch and Julie Fuscardo's wedding (she was the flower girl) and Mitch schooped her up and walked around the store with her to talk her into finishing the job. Who would have guessed that my daughter with all the tattoos and the belly button piercing actually screamed and cried when she first got her ears pierced. I guess Nia is just braver than even her Aunt Ree. (Sorry Anna Marie!) Love, Lola
I saw the video of this little girl on youtube. she was soo brave!!! now I am thinking of getting my ears pierced @ piercing pagoda!!! I am soo excited!!! plz wish me luck!!!
