Maybe we can get in-store credit?

Andrew has the best line for whenever Nate starts acting crazy. He looks at Nia and says, “I think he’s broken!  Do we need to take him back to the Baby Store?”

Nia, being the sweet big sister she is, will laugh and say, “No Daddy!  You’re silly!”

It’s the same thing every time and every time it makes us all chuckle.  Well, except when Mommy tries to use the line. I said it the other night and Nia flat out told me, “No Momma!  That’s what Daddy is s’posed to say!”

I guess I need to be taken to the Get Your Own Line Store.

If Nia Judged American Idol

Nia is smarter than Paula Abdul but her judging skills are pretty much on the same level.  It’s not about the singing, it’s all about how they look.  Her favorite singer?  She “likes all the girls the best because of their makeup.”

We’ve created a little Idol addict.  We let her watch it last week for the first time and that was it. She wants more, constantly asking us when it was going to be on again.  Andrew even had to mark the calendar to show her when she’d get to watch it.  It makes her feel like such a big girl to get to watch a “mommy and daddy” show and I love to hear what she thinks about the singers.

“I like her the best because her shirt is sparkly.”

“Oh, look at her earrings!”

Hold on to your seat Paula –  Nia’s getting ready to take your place!  Don’t worry though, you still “look great!”

All Aboard the Cuckoo Train

I think I’ve caught Thomas the Tank Engine Fever.  Nate’s love of the little trains is contagious.  I sing Thomas songs, like he does.  I get excited when I see any Thomas product, like he does.  I shriek “Thomas Train!” when I see the product, like he does.  I want to have all of the trains and the train sets, like he does.

This is where it goes from cute and fun to expensive and looney.

I can’t help it though!  It’s just so adorable to see how happy Nate gets because of Thomas and I want to buy and buy and buy…

Off Broadway

We got the movie “Enchanted” this week and the kids love the music and dancing so much they feel compelled to reenact it.  It’s very entertaining to me and they’re getting pretty good at it too! Nate even tackles Nia when a bunch of bicyclists run over one of the characters!  I’m so proud!

Zombiefied

Could a music video be brainwashing our baby boy?

I don’t know what it is about this particular song/music video, but every time Nate sees it he freezes and stares.  I mean, it’s a catchy song (the singer is “Feist” and the song is “1234”) and the video is filled with dancers wearing colored shirts but he loves it so much he asks “Again?” or “More?” each time it ends.  Watching it over and over and over…

I just find it so funny and cute that I had to share it.  Enjoy!

Nia’s Concept of Age

Me – “What was your favorite thing to do at the beach?”

Nia – “Going in the big waves with daddy.”

Me – “You were so brave. I was scared because daddy took you out so far but you were very brave.”

Nia – “Yeah, that’s cause I’m 4T.  When you’re 1T or 2T or 3T* you aren’t brave but when you are 4T you are.”

*(In case you don’t know what 1T, 2T, 3T or 4T means – it’s the sizes of children’s clothes.  2 Toddler, 3 Toddler, 4 Toddler.  There’s no such thing as a 1T but Nia thinks there is since that’s the way her clothes have been labeled.)

Nia’s Cute Comments

“You’re the best momma/daddy.”  (I swear we did not bribe her to say that!  The first time she said it to me I teared up.  Now, it’s just super cute and usually comes with an extra-special Nia hug.)

“They’re speaking Spanish, huh Momma?”  (Said after she heard a girl talking to her mom in Spanish at the grocery store.)

“No sir Nathan!” (She’s a great little helper when it comes to the crazy man.)

“Momma, why did you tattle on me?”  (Said after she heard me telling my mom about her potty accident.)

“Let’s get the Snow White doll for Nate.”  (The boy has a major crush on Miss White.  He always picks that doll out of all the others so Nia decided she wanted to get him his own doll.)
